I Can’t Believe It!
My book signing event was a great success! Many family, friends, associates, and former co-workers, came out to help me celebrate my self-published book, “And So She Hears!”
The Black community needs to be aware of the hidden dangers of living with untreated hearing loss and know that they are not alone.
I am anxiously awaiting for the next exciting event as I continue my journey living with hearing loss.
So, I Did a Thing…
In 2015, I finally accepted my need for hearing aids. It was surprising when I met an African American who also wore hearing aids, as I had never met anyone like me before. That chance meeting would change the course of my life.
Promote Livelihood
Live your life! It’s really that simple, but it’s not. However, decide to do the work to create your livelihood and live and inclusive and engaging life with hearing loss.

Hi I’m Valecia and I am hard of hearing. My story begins at a very young age, yet, I lived in denial for decades. I was already in my middle age by the time I came to dealing with it.
So, now I am here to help other Black women with hearing loss, create an engaging and inclusive life, like myself. Via education, self-confidence skills, advocacy and the use of resources. There is work to do, one day at a time! Do it scared, it can be fearful. Being comfortable while uncomfortable can have you stuck, depressed, unhappy and just not living a fulfilling lifestyle.
